Lunar Lakes Adventure

A friend gifted Lunar Lakes premium world to me, so I sent my best astronaut, Shadoza, out to check this new world.

Before sending the Known World’s best astronaut off into space, we tested the stability of the environment.  Premium worlds are hit-and-miss in the stability area; most Sims will have no issues of this world collapsing under the stress.  Before sending Shadoza, our team of scientists hit the CaS to create a test subject.  The CaS crashed after two test subjects were completed.  Also, the randomizing tests had negative results, software updates that were required to move to Lunar Lakes failed to launch which resulted in a complete launcher failure.  We gave Shadoza an unexpected day off, and went to work to correct the problem.  After uninstalling and reinstalling the base game only, we passed the stability tests and were ready to launch.

Shadoza anointed the map with pins revealing the various shops and businesses in the downtown area.  Not much different from other worlds; all the basic necessities are available.

The residential lots are scattered across the lunar surface, providing a variety of sizes and locations.  Lunar Lakes would likely be considered a medium world to lot developers.  The open lots were not, on average, large and a few developers noticed.  The downtown area had empty lot sizes of 25 x 25 and 25 x 20.  There are a few lots that have already been developed at least one that is 50 x 50 and another that was as large as 64 x 64.  Inside the North Crater, Shadoza discovered one empty, undeveloped lot that was 30 x 30, and one developed lot that was available to own that was 20 x 15.  The South Crater area, there was more room for development,  a 20 x 40 lot and a 20 x 20 lot.  There were also three lots that were already developed: 15 x 20, 20 x 40, and a 25 x 50.  The other choices for purchasing a developed lot includes the outpost located behind the crater mountain, lakeside homes on the south-west part of the colony, and a quiet subdivision.  The Lunar Lake historical society frowns upon bulldozing developed lots; however, there is no law forbidding redevelopment.

This home was built by Elton Tang and his alien wife whose name we cannot use.  (You will see why later in this report.)  The Lunar Lakes Historical society was not happy with the vibrant blue and contrasting black and white interior; however, Tang comes from a well-established family that cares little for propriety.  (The Tang family came from my very first world in Sims 3, Tasavana.  The Tangs are one of the few families that survived the implosion after the first expansion arrived and caused my CaW to fail to function.)

Notice the space ship in the driveway.  Elton Tang married his wife in the Known World and she brought the ship to the marriage.  Shadoza discovered that there is no legal way for common folk to purchase an alien space ship.  There is an illegal way to obtain a spaceship and a few other illegal items; however, Shadoza warns in his report that there are valid reasons that these items are not legal.  If one were to contact the black market, BuyDebug, one can purchase items not usually available for purchase.  Shadoza reports that purchasing these items can result in item failure (they get stuck in inventory and cannot be used or removed) or instability (too many items from this cheat can cause the lot to become corrupted.)

The larger businesses and government buildings (rabbit holes) are held underground.  This image, the military center, is a common one in Lunar Lakes.  Schools, the police station, stores, theaters, and restaurants, to name a few, are all located underground.

The Lunar Lakes graveyard is located both above ground and below ground.

We procured a nice home away from home for Shadoza close to the downtown area.  It has one bedroom, a full bath, kitchen, and a living room.  It appeared much larger on the outside, must have been the lengthy glass-walled hallways that made the difference.

One of the unique trees at Lunar Lakes (Gold version required) is the Tree of Prosperity.  We Asked Shadoza to check this out immediately as it seems this tree produces a fruit that can aid in understanding and building certain skills. (That’s a bio dome next to Shadoza’s trees.  Some of the parks are earthy with green grass and earth-styled plants, those locations are protected by bio domes.)

  clip_image014.png

Shadoza planted four Trees of Prosperity to demonstrate the uniqueness of the tree and the variations of the coloring and shapes.  After carefully testing the claims of the locals, Shadoza reported that having multiply trees was not necessary as the tree morphs in variety several times throughout the day.  The fruit at the center can be picked, but must be eaten immediately as they do not keep.  Not to worry, however, the fruits will grow back quickly.  When eaten, the crystal fruit provides random bonuses to select skills.  The tree on the far left, the blue one, is called the Mind Fruit by the locals and it boosts the skills of Charisma, Writing, Collecting, Handiness, Inventing, or Logic.  The pink tree, near left, is called the Body Fruit and it boosts the skills of Athletic, Riding, Martial Arts, or Handiness.  The green tree, near right, is called the Harvest Fruit and it boosts the skills of Gardening, Fishing, or Cooking.  The purple tree, far right, is called the Soul Fruit and boosts the skills of Painting, Writing, Guitar, Sculpting, or Photography.  (This information has been published by EA/Maxis on their Sims 3 Website.  Shadoza was able to verify some, but not all the claims in this report.)  During the night, Shadoza discovered another configuration of the Tree of Prosperity: Gold.  Some of the locals deny its existence, but our expert astronaut captured the image below.  The gold tree is called the Fruit of Abundance by those that believe it in; however, more studies will be needed to discover what it actually boosts.

The park next to Shadoza’s trees is a standard park protected by a dome; however, there are several unique parks that enjoy the terrain and local plant life of Lunar Lakes.

There are a variety of natural parks in Lunar Lakes.  This image is a beach.

This park is designed for fishing.  Shadoza did not find any unusual fish in the lunar lakes.

Lunar Lakes is a quiet community that has a lot to offer in the way of visual concepts.  Its unique plants and special rock formations lend themselves to a science fiction style of living.  However, one must be cautious when living with bad-tempered aliens.

This Alien ship is attacking park in downtown area for unknown reasons.  Several residents were burned by the laser attack, but no deaths were reported.

 clip_image023

Meteor showers are also possible when Aliens catch an attitude.  This was not a natural occurrence; an alien summoned the meteor shower sending the residence who had just suffered an attack into a fear filled frenzy.

 clip_image025

A large meteor landed right in the middle of the park.  A scientist was nearly crushed by the large rock.

Lunar Lake meteor attack3

After the first, largest meteor struck, several smaller meteorites showered the park, destroying the benches and risking the lives of the residence.

 Lunar Lake meteor attack4

No one was able to track the alien responsible for the attack or the shower itself as the meteor shower sent everyone to seek cover thereby preventing anyone from following the escape route.  The residences have their ideas as to who might have been behind the attack as there is only one alien in Lunar Lakes that owns a spaceship.  The suspects husband reports that they were at work at the time of the incident.  The suspect is a low-level astronaut. Shadoza was unable to confirm that the suspect was actually at work, as he only works one day a week and he was not working that day.

    • Thank you, Seeker. I only play Sims 3 for the creative value. I can create people, worlds, design homes and lots, and write a story about them. There is a new expansion pack coming out next week. Since I have to reinstall Create-a-World (CaW) every time I install an expansion, I have been holding on the world building until the new expansion is arrived.

      • Your depiction about the fruit of the four trees, I wish it’s true. Wouldn’t that be great to have a great mind, body and soul. The fruit could be one way to feed the homeless since they bear fruit endlessly.

        • The Crystal fruit come with the Lunar Lakes world Gold version. It would be great if there was really a tree that helped us develop skills. AND, the fruit regrow several times a day.
