Don’t Read and Drive

English: Book "Stuckbrüche" by Raine...

Book in the vending machine

I love reading, writing, and sketching.  I can do these things just about anywhere at any time.  There is, however, a need for common sense.  At the place I worked, an employee from another department was quite rude about it.  She read while waiting in line for the microwave or to access the vending machine: problem there was she sometimes left others with equally short breaks waiting while she finished a paragraph or just failed to notice her attention was needed elsewhere.  This same employee would also read while she walking.  In doing this she flung the responsibility of watching where she was going onto every other person around her.  We had to capture closing doors to keep her from walking into them, call out warnings when there was traffic in the parking lot, and work to avoid being run into or bumped in the walkways.  She often left the parking lot balancing an open book on the wheel of her car.  While reading is easily done just about anywhere, please use good sense.

  1. Don’t read and drive
  2. Don’t read and walk
  3. If you’re going to read a novel, don’t do it in the bathroom of a busy work place

A genie has granted your wish to build your perfect space for reading and writing.  What’s it like?

My genie owns me a wish because I already have the perfect space for reading and writing.  All I ever needed was a place to sit comfortably and something to write on.
