Not certain who decided it was necessary to ring in the new year; I’m thinking it is going to come in with or without an invite. My family came over, they usually do. We had a house full. Fifteen children in the house…no wait, that would send me running into the night….we had fifteen people in the house of which only nine were children. My house was never intended to hold so many people at once.
Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013? Is that where you’d wanted to be?
I stayed at home; I usually do as it is safer there. We were playing games and taming wild children. They should have been well into sleep by midnight, but they kept one another awake and shaking with energy. By midnight, two of the adults were snoozing in the easy chairs. I was seated on the floor in the living room with my daughter playing a Wii game she brought over for me to try. I believe it was called Last Story. I don’t usually play games on the Wii; I’m more inclined to play on the PS3 or my PC. But there I was fighting monsters with a controller that I just wasn’t used to. Just before midnight I put the game down and woke up the sleepy-heads. We all, children included, made enough noise to scare any bad spirits for miles around. Then, we switched games from Wii to PC so the children could go to sleep. I promised to help my daughter learn how to use the Sims 3 Create-a-World software.
It was a pretty quiet night except for the few minutes after midnight. Nothing exciting. Just the way I like to celebrate.

My kind of party, snoozing away before midnight. Sounds very sensible. Making noises scare the bejesus of any one. Good only good spirits for the rest of the year. Hope you’ll catch up with your sleep. zzzzzzz.
