How do I advise friends to avoid doing something that I did? Everything is a lesson with me, so I learn from those things I probably should not have done. I believe that experience is the best teacher. For the purpose of completing this Postaday prompt, I will present a few things that I have done that I would warn my friends against doing should they ever find the idea to try it. Here goes it:
Do not get romantically involved with my husband. He’s a laid-back kind of guy that would take the flirting as meaningless fun. I am not so laid-back. I would consider such as a challenge. I think my friends would not like how I answered that challenge. Seriously, I had a friend who played house with another woman’s man and it did not end well for either her or the man. Don’t do it friend.
Do not spend my money. I know this is something that I do when I should not. I have a budget for a reason. If I purchase the newest addition to the Sims 3 game (Seasons!), that does not mean that I have money to burn. It only means that I’m human and sometimes I buy when I shouldn’t. Seriously, some of my friends and all of my children think I am a bank. They seem to believe I have an endless supply that is always at their disposal. I love to help where I can; however, that money they keep pointing at is our retirement fund. Some monies I will not compromise no matter your position.
Do not disrespect my home state. My home state and the one I currently live in like to trade insults. For the most part, I don’t mind because some of the insults are very creative. I’m living on the wrong side of the border now and I have had the occasion to hear some very crude remarks. Don’t do it friend. Avoid the temptation. I didn’t come to this state by design, I was transferred. I do, however, choose to stay here. Be kind with your remarks and respectful with the jokes as we all live in the same country. While we are on that subject, allow me to advance the thought. Do not insult other religions, nationalities, social class, ethnic groups…on the internet. Insulting someone because they are different than you only proves your ignorance. Be kind and respectful with your comments as we all live on the same planet and it is not as big as it used to be.
